On 17 October 2019 a delegation of 16 CdH members travelled by bus to the headquarters of the company Test-Fuchs GmbH. Test-Fuchs, located in Gross-Siegharts, Lower Austria, north-west of Vienna, is a world leading specialist in providing tailor-made test systems, and is a performance-driven manufacturer of components for civil and military aerospace companies. Their clients include most airlines (along with the Ariane space programme), aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and maintenance, repair and overhaul companies (MROs) in the sector.
Our host for the afternoon was Mr Markus Nagl, Chief Operating Officer of Test-Fuchs. The programme began with a presentation about the company, its products and market. During the presentation it was explained that Test-Fuchs, a family business established in 1946, is the leading supplier in its field in Europe and one of the leaders world wide. It has a financial turnover of ?60 million, 600 employees world wide, 480 of which are based in Austria, and exports 95% of its production. Although the company manufactures some components used directly in aircraft pneumatic, hydraulic and fuel systems, its products and services are mainly focused on test equipment and facilities for testing control and actuating systems for aircraft in the civil and military sectors. All equipment is made to very exacting dimensional and quality standards both from the design point of view, the manufacturing point of view, and from the materials point of view.
The presentation was followed by a tour of the production plant during which Mr Nagl showed the delegates the company's manufacuring facilities and examples of many of the company's products in the course of manufacture for various airlines and airforces. At all times Mr Nagl was very responsive to all questions concerning their products and processes.
Finally everyone returned to the company's conference room for light refreshments and further discussion with Mr Nagl.
